This page looks for faces. Everything it finds is a suggestion: nothing is hidden until you say so.

What this cannot do

Faces that are small, turned away, blurred by movement or half hidden are missed. In our dashcam test clip, where faces were about 20 pixels across, the detector saw someone in only 1 of 72 frames we looked at.

A person's clothes, tattoos, name badge or the back of their head are not faces — mark those areas yourself.

Because of that, the result is never called safe. Watch the new video before you send it, and mark anything that is still visible — marking an area by hand always works, whatever the detectors did or did not see.

What happens to your video

It stays on your device. Frames are decoded, looked at and re-encoded in this browser tab; the new file is made here too. Your original file is never changed, and nothing is sent anywhere — you can check that with your browser's network tab, or by turning off the network after the page loads.

The new video is re-encoded, so it is not byte-identical to your original: the covered areas are burned into the picture and cannot be undone. The sound track is copied across unchanged.
