What this checks
Sensitive values in the text
Email addresses, US phone numbers, payment card numbers (Luhn-checked), IBANs (MOD-97-checked), US Social Security numbers, IPv4 addresses, and API keys or private keys with known formats — plus China resident ID and mobile numbers if you turn that on. It looks in the body, tables, text boxes, headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes, comments, tracked deletions, field codes, link targets, image alt text and document properties.
Your own terms (names, addresses, prices…)
Names, addresses and company names are not recognised automatically in this version, except in Chinese documents where the form labels the field (法定代表人：, 地址：, 甲方：…) and the China (mainland) pack is on. Add them under "Add your own private terms".
Hidden in the file
Author and editor names, timestamps, company, custom properties, document variables, comments, reviewer identities, tracked changes, hidden text, the metadata of pictures inside the document (location, time, camera — in JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF pictures) and the first-page preview picture. Embedded objects, macros and drawings in other formats are flagged for you to handle.
Questions
Is the redacted text really gone?
Yes — the characters are replaced in the file itself, not covered with a black box. The new copy is re-opened and searched again, with a separate reader, for every value you chose to change.
Does hiding markup in Word remove tracked changes?
No. Hiding markup only changes what's shown on screen; the revisions stay in the file until they are accepted or removed.
Does this tool upload my file?
No. Everything happens in this browser tab. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Can I say a document is completely safe after this?
No tool can promise that. The report tells you exactly what was removed, what you kept, what still needs your attention, and which parts of the file this tool can't check. Full capability list and limitations →
