Beta: tested on sample files in every format and on real iPhone photos (HEIC). Extra pictures stored inside a photo (for example an HDR map) are checked too. Anything this version can't fully inspect is listed under "Needs attention", never counted as checked.
Questions
What is photo metadata / EXIF data?
Hidden information a camera or phone stores inside the photo file — GPS coordinates, when it was taken, the device model and serial number, and sometimes the software used to edit it or a caption with a name.
Does this tool upload my photos?
No. Everything happens in your browser. You can switch to airplane mode after the page loads and it still works.
How do I know the new copy no longer contains GPS?
The new copy is re-opened and scanned again. The report shows each value found in your photo next to what the re-scan found in the new copy, and the picture data itself is compared byte by byte with your original. What is and isn't checked →
Will it reduce image quality?
No. Metadata is removed without re-encoding the picture (confirmed on our test images by comparing decoded pixels).
Can I remove only the GPS location?
Not in this version — all the privacy metadata it detects is removed at once.
Why not just ask an AI assistant?
This does one job the same way every time, for a whole batch, locally, and shows you exactly what was found and removed. That isn't a claim that AI assistants are unsafe.
